In his original music, the Indo-German pianist and composer Jarry Singla combines European musical traditions not only with a variety of jazz-styles, but also with classical and folk music drawn from non-European musical cultures.
Jarrys compositions include pieces for his ensemble with the renowned British saxophonist Julian Argüelles as well as music for jazztrio and symphony-orchestra. In New York and Mexico City, where Jarry lived for several years, his work was inspired by meeting musicians from all around the world.
Currently living in Cologne/Germany, Jarry is a member of „Borderland“, the award-winning group of Ukrainian singer Mariana Sadovska, and of „Lagash“, an ensemble which is led by the Iraquian composer and singer Saad Thamir.
Jarry Singla was selected by the Arts Foundation North-Rhine Westphalia for a six month stay in Mumbai/India as an Artist-in-Residence - from March till August 2013.
